Training transcript
Complete a Talent Review in Synergist Pro
A chaptered, accessible transcript of the synthetic Northstar Field Services Training walkthrough with Jordan Avery and Northstar Trainer.
Final transcript conformed to the published v1.1.3 media.
Generated template criteria stay unless denied; employee-review ratings, notes, and goals remain pending until a supervisor accepts or rejects each change.
0:00–0:51 — Chapter 1: The connected review lifecycle
Narrator: Performance reviews are most useful when they develop people—not when they simply document them. But a supervisor who begins with a blank form at the end of the cycle has to reconstruct months of work from memory, scattered notes, and recent events.
Narrator: Synergist Pro connects the role, ongoing observations, the editable review draft, publication, and development planning. That structure reduces blank-page work and gives the supervisor more time to verify evidence, make decisions, and prepare for a meaningful conversation.
Narrator: In this walkthrough, we will complete a review for Jordan Avery, a fictional teammate in the Northstar Field Services Training organization. Every person, email address, event, rating, and goal shown here is synthetic.

0:51–1:47 — Chapter 2: Start with the role
Narrator: Jordan is assigned to the Field Service Technician position, with Northstar Trainer assigned as the assessor. The published success profile for Jordan’s position defines what success looks like in this role.
Narrator: For public-facing conversations, we call this a role success profile. Inside Synergist Pro, administrators work with it under Templates. The template is role-specific, so a Field Service Technician is evaluated against expectations that belong to that work—not a generic form designed for every role.
Narrator: The current framework organizes criteria into five categories: Sustainable, Performant, Adaptable, Communication, and Culture. Each criterion is scored independently and contributes to the review.

The synthetic Talent record shows Position and Assessor. The published Field Service Technician Success Profile opens, and the five category tabs are highlighted.
1:47–3:07 — Chapter 3: Understand abilities and behaviors
Narrator: There are two primary kinds of criteria.
Narrator: An ability describes demonstrated skill, knowledge, or capability. Abilities use the scale Unskilled, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert.
Narrator: A behavior describes an observable pattern of action. Behaviors use Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Usually, and Always.
Narrator: Templates can include both positive and counterproductive behaviors. A positive behavior might be, “Escalates ambiguous safety risks before continuing work.” A counterproductive behavior might be, “Proceeds when safety conditions are unclear.” Counterproductive behavior is not a label applied to a person. It is a specific, observable work pattern. For that kind of criterion, improvement means the action happens less often.
Narrator: These anchors do not remove human judgment. They give the supervisor clearer, job-related language for applying that judgment and explaining the result.

The strengths-first template editor shows five abilities and positive behaviors before exactly one sparse synthetic counterproductive behavior. The ability and behavior scales appear beside the matching criteria. The counterproductive behavior is labeled as a work pattern, not a person label.
3:07–4:25 — Chapter 4: Capture useful context during the cycle
Narrator: Review preparation should happen throughout the cycle, not only on the day the review is due.
Narrator: In the Talent workspace, a supervisor can record meaningful events and performance observations. Good evidence is concise and work-related: what happened, when or in what context it happened, what action was observed, and what impact followed.
Narrator: For example, Jordan completed eight scheduled equipment inspections, submitted the service records on time, and clearly documented the maintenance actions needed for each unit. That evidence is more useful than a vague note such as “great attitude.”
Narrator: Synergist Pro also keeps the prior finalized review and unfinished development goals connected to the next cycle. The goal is to reduce reliance on recent memory—not to turn every workplace interaction into a record. Supervisors should follow their organization’s privacy and documentation policies and avoid rumors, medical details, protected-class information, or personality judgments.

Jordan’s Events area shows the synthetic inspection and safety-escalation evidence. A prior assessment and unfinished development goal are shown briefly. A checklist contrasts factual evidence with vague or inappropriate notes.
4:25–5:25 — Chapter 5: Work in the ongoing assessment
Narrator: The ongoing assessment is the editable review draft. Open Jordan’s workspace and move through the five category tabs. Each row or card shows the criterion, its type, the current rating, and any notes.
Narrator: The supervisor can complete the draft manually. For an ability such as Inspects commercial equipment systematically, choose the capability level supported by the review-period evidence. For a behavior such as Escalates ambiguous safety risks before continuing work, choose the observed frequency. Add a note when it helps explain the rating or preserve relevant evidence.
Narrator: The draft remains editable until publication. A selected rating is not a permanent assessment merely because it appears here.

The ongoing assessment opens. A synthetic ability rating is selected, a behavior rating is selected, and a concise factual note is added.
5:25–7:50 — Chapter 6: Use the AI review partner
Narrator: The AI review partner is available from the draft. Its responsive workspace keeps the conversation readable on desktop, phone, and tablet so the supervisor can move between review work and AI without losing context.
Narrator: The review partner is grounded in Jordan’s active template, current draft selections, latest finalized review, incomplete development goals, and permitted recent events and performance observations. It asks one broad question at a time, then focused follow-ups when needed.
Narrator: The supervisor can type or explicitly start a voice session. Voice is optional; text remains available.
Narrator: In this example, Northstar Trainer explains that Jordan completed eight scheduled inspections and submitted timely documentation, while one ambiguous safety condition required supervisor follow-up before escalation. Synergist AI summarizes what it learned and prepares a proposal. The proposal shows the affected criterion, current and proposed values, notes or evidence, and a rationale.
Narrator: Nothing changes merely because AI suggested it. Each proposal remains pending until the supervisor reviews it.
Narrator: Choose Accept only when the proposal accurately reflects the evidence and the intended rating. Choose Reject when it does not belong in the review. An accepted proficiency change can be undone while the review remains active. If the AI suggests a shared-template change, that suggestion is advisory only and cannot be applied from this teammate's review.
Narrator: The same individual-control pattern applies to proposed development goals. Accepting a goal stages it with the draft; it becomes part of the official review only through publication.
Narrator: AI assists with coverage and drafting. The supervisor remains responsible for the evidence, the rating, and the final decision.

7:50–9:13 — Chapter 7: Validate and publish
Narrator: When the draft is ready, choose Publish Ongoing Assessment. Synergist Pro validates the review before opening the publish workflow.
Narrator: The first step is Review Assessment. Confirm that the ratings and notes represent the period accurately.
Narrator: Next is Events. Review the observations associated with this teammate and make sure the final review is not being driven by one recent moment.
Narrator: If active development-plan items already exist, the workflow includes Development Plan Items. Consider what should remain part of the teammate’s active development work.
Narrator: The Improvement Items step presents opportunities calculated from the ongoing assessment. These are recommendations, not automatic assignments. The supervisor chooses the priorities that make sense for this teammate and review.
Narrator: At Finalize and Publish, refine the selected development actions. Give each action a useful title and narrative, and confirm that it is specific enough to guide a future coaching conversation.
Narrator: Then publish. Publication creates the permanent assessment, creates the selected development items, records the publication, and finalizes the associated AI review session. Publication is the human-controlled commitment point.
Visual description
The actual publish step names appear in order. One synthetic improvement item is selected and edited. The final Publish or Commit control is activated only after the development action is ready.
9:13–10:10 — Chapter 8: Continue development
Narrator: After publication, the finalized assessment is available in Assessments, and the selected development work remains connected to the teammate.
Narrator: The private AI conversation is retained for the assigned supervisor and authorized administrators. A teammate with active system access receives the normal finalized assessment content according to product access; the private supervisor transcript is not presented as the teammate's official review content.
Narrator: Development items can be reviewed and completed over time. When the next review cycle begins, the latest finalized assessment, unfinished goals, and newer observations can provide historical context. The supervisor does not have to rebuild the entire story from scratch, and prior answers are not blindly copied forward.
Visual description
The finalized synthetic assessment is opened from Assessments. Jordan’s development action appears in the Talent workspace. A new-cycle graphic connects the prior review, unfinished goal, and newer observation to the next draft.
10:10–10:43 — Chapter 9: Close
Narrator: That is the Synergist Pro review lifecycle: define role-specific expectations, capture meaningful observations, review with connected context, use AI suggestions under individual supervisor control, publish deliberately, and turn the result into focused development.
Narrator: Less repetitive data entry. More time for verification, honest conversation, and practical coaching.
Narrator: For the review-preparation checklist, transcript, and downloadable overview, visit the Synergist Pro Resources page.
